I'm really interested in the spacecraft part. TAV = trans-atmospheric vehicle - build at home, off the shelf parts, capable of movement within the magnetosphere.
Personal spacecraft in the "traditional" sense may be a few years off yet, but Rutan and Scaled Composites have certainly opened a door and it's important to remember that Rutan's original claim to fame was as a designer of kit aircraft.
What do you think is the biggest barrier to the sort of "rocket in every garage" revolution that's been predicted in fiction since H.G. Wells? Can people who, on average, crash several cars in a lifetime be trusted with explosives over our heads? (-:
